How Disability Friendly Is Your Office Space?

When you’re searching for new Liverpool serviced offices, there will be a number of boxes you’ll be trying to tick, ranging from location and size, to providing your employees with suitable breakout space, not to mention making the office itself a nice environment to work in.

But how much thought do you give to whether your office is disability friendly? If you have any employees with disabilities, you’re likely to be more aware of potential issues than if you don’t, but if it’s something you’d like to know more about, neconnected.co.uk recently offered some advice on how to create a disability friendly workplace.

Top of the list of things to consider is access to the building. As well as making sure that wherever you take office space there are facilities for disabled employees in the building, you need to look out for things like disabled parking spaces, ramps (if necessary) and elevators if your office isn’t on the ground floor.

As well as obvious facilities, like disabled bathrooms, you should also look at how your building caters for people with visual impairment – braille signs, for instance, can make a big difference.

When it comes to your office itself, you need to ensure that the equipment and workstations you have can be tailored to meet any member of staff’s needs, whether that’s through the use of assistive technology or a specially altered desk or chair.

An article for City AM recently highlighted the fact that organisations that have a diverse workforce tend to be more successful, which includes helping more disabled people in the UK to find jobs and contribute their talents in various industries.
