Expansion For Liverpool John Lennon Airport Executive Lounge

The executive lounge at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) is set to triple in size due to its growing popularity, Liverpool Business News reports. The expansion will create capacity for an extra 200 people, and is scheduled to be ready in time for peak travel season in the summer.

The current Aspire lounge was opened in 2012, and is operated by Swissport. It has already been expanded and upgraded once before, but due to increased demand, the lounge will have another revamp, including the addition of a second storey, private booths, shared workspaces, and food and drink areas.

David Collyer of Swissport said: “Airport lounges have seen a marked increase in demand from passengers looking for an elegant space to relax, whether for business or pleasure. We look forward to creating a truly exceptional lounge experience in Liverpool, where travellers can unwind or work, all while enjoying the luxury of a premium hotel atmosphere.”

The new investment is another sign of the successful renaissance of the city, which is undergoing a long-term multi-billion pound regeneration. Liverpool is now the north west’s number one choice for serviced offices, new business investment, and cultural developments, and the newly revived docklands area is a sought after place to live.

In 2023 and 2024, LJLA was named the UK’s best airport in a Which! magazine survey, and this year it has been shortlisted for the ‘Travel Brand of the Year’ category. The airport has received consistently high customer scores for excellent security and staff, and well managed baggage drop off points.

LJLA is the only UK airport to be shortlisted for the international award, and in 2024, over five million passengers used the facility.
