Few businesses would argue these days that having a digital team isn’t important. After all, so much of what we do relies on the digital environment, from cloud storage and software systems, to client interactions via email and social media.
One of the challenges that many businesses face is recruiting the right teams to drive the company forwards.
Writing for the Scotsman recently, Matt Weston, managing director of Robert Half UK, explained that firms need to get to grips with digitisation and what it means for their business.
He also stressed the importance of acting sooner rather than later to bring the right people into your offices in Liverpool, as demand for talent in this area is only set to grow.
Mr Weston revealed that in his firm’s research with those looking for jobs, nearly one-quarter receive more than one job offer, while 47 per cent had accepted a role with a second-choice employer because their first choice took too long to get back to them.
It’s also advisable to think about “flexible recruitment strategies”, he said, which may mean tapping into the freelance talent pool to fill certain gaps in your team.
Another thing that businesses need to work on is their retention strategies, to ensure that once they attract the right employees they don’t lose them to competitors.
The Guardian recently shared research from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), which found that many businesses across a range of sectors in the UK are finding it difficult to recruit staff, while wages have started to grow as a result of the current skills shortage.
That means you need to ensure you’re offering a competitive package to prospective employees, as well as selling your business as a great place to work.
