We all know that us Brits are renowned for our love of a good cup of tea, but aside from being a great excuse to get up from your desk, move your body and take a few minutes away from your screen, there might be another reason to indulge in more cups of tea.
Freelance UK reported on a study conducted by researchers at Peking University’s School of Psychological and Cognitive Science, which found that drinking a cup of tea can actually make you more creative.
The study explored how tea can impact creativity, as well as how long it takes to have an effect. According to the research, just ten minutes after drinking a brew an improvement in spatial creativity can be observed, while it takes 20 minutes before semantic creativity is boosted.
Those taking part in the study were split into two groups – one of which was given tea to drink and the other which was given water. They were then asked to take part in a block-building experiment, to assess spatial creativity, and a restaurant-naming exercise, to assess semantic creativity.
But tea may not be the answer to all of your creativity blocks, the researchers noted. “Although drinking tea improves cognitive creativity, it may not significantly increase the level of playfulness compared to drinking water,” they asserted.
All of this points to the fact that having a well-stocked kitchen is an important part of any office though, so when you’re searching for office space in Liverpool you may want to consider the quality of the kitchen as well as other amenities in the building.
Providing a space where your employees can take a break was highlighted as important for workers recently, with a survey finding that 97 per cent of people working in small and medium-sized businesses would feel more organised, as well as more positive about their employer, if they took more short breaks throughout the day.
