A number of Liverpool-based organisations have come together to launch the Help Campaign, designed to encourage businesses and local people in the city to support local retailers, restaurants and cafes during the tier three lockdown that was announced earlier in October.
The Liverpool BID, Liverpool ONE, Visit Liverpool and Marketing Liverpool are behind the initiative.
There are five key messages to the campaign, which start by encouraging people to eat and shop locally to support the city’s hospitality and retail businesses.
It also urges those who are unable to go out to use delivery services to support local businesses however they can.
The organisations also stressed the importance of following the safety guidance set out by the government, which includes regular hand washing and social distancing.
Director of Marketing Liverpool Chris Brown commented: “This is about bringing the Liverpool City Region together to ensure everyone stands side-by-side to face and beat the impact of the pandemic.”
Liverpool was placed under the government’s tier three for Covid-19 cases on 14 October, which meant that all restaurants and bars had to close unless they served “substantial meals”, indoor gyms, fitness and dance studios, sports facilities and leisure centres also had to close, as did casinos, betting shops and adult gaming centres.
From 24 October, indoor gyms, fitness and dance studios, sports facilities and leisure centres will be allowed to reopen in the city. However, on this date all soft play centres will have to close.
