Anfield is definitely the place to be at the moment as Liverpool’s season gets more and more exciting.
Having secured the EFL Cup already, Jurgen Klopp’s men now have one foot on the Champions League semi-finals after winning the first leg of their quarter final against Benfica 3-1 in Lisbon.
An early header by Ibrahima Konate and a second goal by Sadio Mane gave Liverpool an early 2-0 lead and although the highly-rated striker Darwin Nunez pulled one back, Diaz scored a late third to restore the two goal cushion ahead of the home leg at Anfield.
If those occupying Liverpool office space in the Anfield area are excited about the possibility of another Champions League success, there is also the question of further domestic glory in the Premier League and FA Cup.
This weekend sees the reds travelling to Manchester to take on a City side that are just a point ahead as the Premier League enters its final stages. The same opponents also stand in their way in the FA Cup with a semi-final at Wembley the following weekend.
Liverpool have twice won three trophies in a season – 1983-84 when they won the European Cup, were league champions and picked up the League Cup, plus 2000-01, with the unusual combination of UEFA Cup, FA Cup and League Cup.
Having won five successive away games in all competitions and their last ten league games, there could be no better time to take on the biggest of challenges.
It’s not just about the men either; Liverpool’s ladies side has just secured a return to the Women’s Super League after beating Bristol City 4-2 at Ashton Gate to secure the Championship title.
Of course, if Liverpool fans really want to get greedy, they might just hope to win these trophies and see struggling Everton relegated as well, although firms in Liverpool may just find their staff of a blue persuasion requesting to work from home if that happens!
