Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) running manufacturing businesses in Liverpool are being called on to embrace new digital technologies and take advantage of a new business support programme run by LCR 4.0.
It’s hoped that by signing up to the programme, SMEs will be able to benefit from the opportunities associated with the adoption of these digital technologies that are now available in advanced manufacturing.
By doing so, such companies will be able to increase productivity, grow more sustainably and respond more quickly to the needs of their customers, achieved by making use of technologies that enable better connectivity between both physical and digital assets.
Sector manager for advanced manufacturing at the Liverpool City Region LEP Simon Reid said: “In Liverpool, we are lucky in that we have world-class technical and knowledge assets on our doorstep that can give SMEs the support they need to find out what opportunities are available
for their business.”
The business support programme itself – the first of its kind in the country – is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund and will give companies access to practical support, as well as enabling them to connect with other SMEs so they can unleash the potential of industry 4.0.
This is also referred to as the fourth industrial revolution, involving the increasing connectivity between digital and physical in advanced manufacturing and being driven by human-machine interactions and enhanced reliability in data analytics.
