Plans For Liverpool’s Tallest Building Revealed

It’s possible that there will be even more Liverpool serviced offices to take advantage of in the near future, if plans for the tallest skyscraper in the city are given the go ahead.

Wilcocks & Wilcocks and Prospect Capital have proposed to build a 48-storey tower (Ovatus 2) on the corner of Old Hall Street in the city centre for residential use. The two firms have already submitted proposals to the local council for another 27-storey tower (Ovatus 1), with both projects already fully funded… which means that work on the first tower could start as soon as April, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Prospect Capital’s Craig Blackwell said that Ovatus 2 will complement the original tower and also serve as a statement as to where Liverpool’s market will be moving in the future.

“With the city making huge strides since the 2008 Capital of Culture year this development, with its key gateway status in Liverpool, not only changes the vista of our world famous waterfront but is part of the city’s further expansion,” he went on to add.

The Liverpool skyline looks set to change in the near future, with other residential projects also in the pipeline. According to Liverpool Confidential, plans have also been lodged with Liverpool council for a housing complex made up of three skyscrapers on the corner of Leeds Street and Pall Mall. The tallest of these three will become the city’s third tallest building, second only to Radio City Tower and Beetham West Tower. It’ll certainly be interesting to watch the cityscape change over the next few years.
