While Liverpool has a thriving and famous cultural offering, it has not had a huge culinary reputation down the years, unless, of course, you count Scouse stew.
However, the restaurant scene has been growing rapidly in its variety and quality in recent years, providing diners working and living in the city with lots of exciting new places to try and something for every taste.
The latest new addition may be particularly mouth-watering for some: the Shebang fusion restaurant that has just opened on Bold Street. Located above the Red Dog Saloon, it provides a combination of Indian street food and both Indian and Turkish charcoal dishes. The new restaurant in Liverpool hopes to be as successful as the existing outlet in Nottingham.
It also provides cocktails, lassis and chai tea. The Liverpool Echo describes it as a place “where Calcutta meets Istanbul”.
General manager of both the Red Dog and Shebang Zsolt Zahorecz said: “Shebang has gone down a storm in Nottingham so we’re looking forward to introducing it to the people of Liverpool.”
He added: “The official launch has been delayed due to the pandemic but now we’re open and we can’t wait to show people some of these incredible dishes – they really are something else.”
For those seeking Liverpool office space, the attraction of the city as a business destination is likely to grow as its economy expands, something a wider cultural, culinary and social offering can help to achieve.
At the same time, by having offices near but not in the city centre, firms can enjoy being close to these emerging attractions without having to deal with the extra congestion of traffic or crowds that this will produce.
TripAdvisor’s list of the best restaurants in Liverpool at present includes Lucy In the Sky Liverpool, Noso and Noya Concept Mediterranean, the last of these offering some Turkish dishes of its own. Could Shebang soon be added to the list?
