Key Workplace Trends Identified

If you’re going to be hunting for new office space in Liverpool in the coming months, you might want to consider some of the trends that have been identified relating to our working habits, as well as the kind of environment employees are looking for.

A number of experts have offered their suggestions of trends to watch out for in the workplace this year in an article for aat Comment.

Employee experience and workplace wellbeing are two topics for companies to look at, with the former not only having an impact on current employees and their productivity, but also potentially affecting a firm’s ability to hire in the future.

Co-founder of PlusHR Consultancy Stuart Hearn explained that in this age of social media, people are only too happy to share their stories of their employers with others, and a company that gains a bad reputation when it comes to staff treatment could struggle to attract new talent.

Meanwhile, Richard Hanwell, associate director at The Sterling Choice, told the website that companies need to think about employee wellbeing, covering everything from perks like gym memberships to the design and layout of their office space.

“Businesses want their employees to be able to work at their optimum level as it is beneficial and profitable to the business,” he stated.

Away from the office itself, the rise of homeworking and more flexible working patterns could mean some companies can afford to rent smaller office spaces as they have fewer employees in at the same times.

And with research from ILM last year indicating that just over half of UK workers feel they are being held back from performing their jobs effectively by the structure or culture of their workplace, now could be the ideal time to evaluate your business’ approach.
