Safely Returning Liverpool Supporters “Immediate Priority” At Anfield

Helping Liverpool fans get back to watch games is an “immediate priority” at Anfield as the new Premier League season begins behind closed doors.

New LFC CEO Billy Hogan was unequivocal that the focus of the team and Liverpool office is the best way to ensure supporters can safely watch matches at the grounds, he told the Liverpool FC official website earlier this week (1st September).

This comes in the wake of the announcement that their first home game will be played behind closed doors, a trend that will continue until October at the earliest, according to the club’s announcement of changes that will arise this season.

The club commented that they were suspending the renewal of season tickets and selling tickets on a match-by-match, due to the uncertainty as to when full crowds will be allowed back into Anfield.

This works as a compromise between the fans who are eager to attend matches as soon as possible, without penalising season ticket holders who are still wary of attending events due to the present circumstances. Any matches that do have fan attendances do not count towards ticket allocation credit.

Travel provisions in the Anfield area are also cited as a concern, as a significant number of fans attending games would put a strain on social distancing policies on public transport and the naturally reduced capacity that results.

Liverpool played their last pre-season friendly at Anfield on Saturday 5th September, where they defeated Blackpool 7-2 after going down 2-0 in the first half.
