£900m Lending Fund For North West Small Business

Those looking for the best office space Liverpool has to offer will be pleased to hear that HSBC has unveiled a £900million lending fund for small and medium sized businesses in the North West.

They are proud to reveal they have approved 90 per cent of applications for loans by small businesses, as part of their commitment to boosting SMEs.

Mike Hemmingway, regional director for the North, told the Manchester Evening News: “The launch of this fund reaffirms our commitment to support the growth of north west SMEs of all sizes, from start-ups to established businesses.

“We have so many ambitious businesses in our region who are keen to grow locally, nationally and internationally. This fund is all about helping those businesses make investments that will enable them to achieve their goals while stimulating our local economy and creating jobs.”

The fund is part of a larger £10 billion fund that has been made available to small and medium businesses in the UK. Many banks are keen to encourage small businesses to explore exporting opportunities for the products as a way to grow their businesses.

One local business Beech’s Fine Chocolates which is based in Preston, received a six figure sum from HSBC’s small and medium sized business to grow its workforce last year.

The company used this money to relaunch its products and also expand its offer both in the UK and internationally, for the first time since it launched its chocolate range in 1920.
